Elegant and captivating, this hand knotted wool vintage Persian Mashhad rug features an Islamic Quatrefoil Tile Artwork design composed of an all-over geometric pattern of interlocking motifs. Large-scale columns of stacked quatrefoil lobes are filled with navy blue four petal florals, serrated leaves while navy blue cruciform motifs are anchored by complementary colored palmettes. The quatrefoil medallions alternate with octofoil amulets composed of angular vines and Chinese cloud-collars made from trefoils. Crosses, eight-pointed stars, and lobed medallions of quatrefoil, trefoil and Chinese cloud-collars interlock and flow into one another, each replete with unique floral ornament.
